Hardware & Performance Envy 14 features a 14-inch (1600 X 900) Radiance LED Backlit Display, it measures 12.88 x 8.7 and weighs 3.79 lbs. The laptop is powered with 1.6 Ghz Intel Core i5 processor and is bundled with Intel Rapid Start Technology, with 4GB of DDR3 RAM and 128 GB SSD for fast processing. It runs on Windows 7 Home premium (64 bit), also it is equipped with softwares to increase the boot up time. Further, the keypad has illuminated keys, which would automatically light up when the sensors detects your presence around it. The Touchpad is designed smartly and it is capable of 2 to 3 finger interaction at a time. The touchpad also has a button on it which is used to turn the touchpad off/on as in the HP Folio 13. Overall, the hardware is designed very efficiently and in my views the configuration is enough to speak about its performance. Software HP has managed to provide with ample amount of softwares with the system as it comes with full versions of Adobe Photoshope Elements and Premier elements CS4 and a licensed version of Norton Internet Security 2012 for 2 years . Also, it include Microsoft Office 2010 Starter Edition and Microsoft Silverlight bundled with some regular softwares. It also comes packed with Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230 + Bluetooth (2×2 Wi-Fi) for fast connectivity over air. In my views , the software features are not something to be appreciated and are normal to all the models of HP, instead we should expect something more in future. Battery Life & Warranty HP Envy 14 Spectre has a backup time of 9.5 hrs, but reviews conducted by other websites tells some different story, on a normal usage the laptop provides a backup of only 5hrs and 30mins. Eventhough, its not the same as the company says but definitely it has better when compared with other products in the same league. HP Envy 14 Spectre comes with a 2 year Standard warranty and with a ready-to-go access to the technical support. Sound HP has nicely taken care of the sound department as the laptop is fully fletched with a dedicated section for Beats Audio System. There are illuminated keys available on the board for one touch access to music and volume control. It has speakers for loud 3D audio system and has a ‘b’ icon on the section which glows red when the system is on use.
